Special Birthday - Keepsake

My mum asked me to make a card, a special card, not an everyday normaly type card for her Aunt Betty who was celebrating her 85th Birthday.

I had bought some Melissa Frances papers that I was waiting to use on a special project, and this seemend the perfect time to use them.

All the pieces are from Melissa Frances including the chipboard, but the flower is Prima and seam binding ribbon from The Ribbon Girl.

Hope you like the card, I think I turned out to be the special card she wanted after all.

Fiskars Birthday....Yah!

It's Birthday time on the Fiskarettes web site.  New layout and design and loaded with inspiration for you crafters and card makers.  Have a look, loads of ideas, different takes on products you might already have and you might pick up a tip or two.

This card along with a step by step on how to make it was posted this week.

A little story on this card, there is a small part missing on the end of the label on the card, while I was photographing it in the garden the dog ran off with the card and tore a small part of it!  I did try and look for the bit but reckoned it might be in her tummy!

Been baking like mad, cupcakes about 60 every weekend for the last 3 weeks.  My daughter Caoimhe is making them too, and had to do a practical at school and made a batch for the test.  She did really well, her teacher was impressed, but she has been able to help me with them for weeks and knows exactly what to do!  She even had a stand with her to display them, piped and decorated them and had a topper and candle.

Here are the batch we made for her best friend who had a Barbie party a few weeks ago.

It's First Holy Communion season - I will share some of the photos that I've taken of the girls and boys next week.

Love those Angels soooo much!

I made these cards a few weeks ago, and have been dying to share them with you.  I am not really a stamper and don't enjoy "Big girl colouring-in" much, but these stamps are just fabulous, stunning stamps and a joy to use.  Little musings is the site that I got them from and SJ has the most fab stamps and downloads you can buy.

The cards below are coloured with Pro-markers, and accented with Glossy Accents, perfect pearls, and stickles.

I stamped and coloured the image, then I stamped and coloured the image again on the card base, and then decoupaged the Angel.  The bible passage seemed perfect for First Holy Communions and I set the text in Photoshop and then printed it directly on the card trying to mimic a silver tone.

In total I made 7 cards, 5 pink girl cards and 2 boy cards with blue hearts instead of pink.  The twine I felt just added to the balance of the card.

Right - off to enjoy the Eurovision, can't believe I am saying this but.... GO JEDWARD!!!

Lots of stuff to show.

I feel that I have lot's of stuff that I've done and only just got around to photographing in the last few days.  Time is hard to find these days, the sunny days mean that I can get stuff done and feel the instinct to get a good clean done on the house and that included de-clutting and deep cleaning the teens room.

Caoimhe's best friend Megan was 14 last week, and along with a gift and some Barbie Cupcakes, I made  her this canvas for her bedroom.  The canvas was a cheap one, but I think the overall effect was really nice.  I totally enjoyed playing with the embossing powders and heat gun to make the bird, cage and flourishes, with black sparkle powder.  The little cameo below was a Primark / Penney's find, they 50c for a pair of earrings that work fab as a brad!

My friend's daughter had a Birthday and I wanted to make a special card for her and really wanted an Angel as this has a significance for them.  I coloured the Angel with my promarkers, and used Glossy Accents to add gloss to the heart and banner.  Some Stickles on the wings added a little bling.  The flower is a Cuttlebug flower die which I love, a bit fiddly but well worth the work.  A quick run thru the embossing folder (Swiss dots) and the card comes together.

I wish I could take credit for the Barbie cake below - this creation was made by my talented next door neighbour Karyn Sheridan who bakes cupcakes and is a Designer Baker.  What's up Capcake? is the name of her company and for all of you who have asked me to make cupcakes and I have said a polite NO - you might want to try Karyn, she is trying to make a business of it and her work is stunning.

Snatching a moment!

Life gets so busy - I don't know where the last 2 weeks went.  The kids went back to school yesterday and I had some mad catching up to do and feel a lot more sorted.  My wedding photos are handed over and I have a happy bride!  My last baby shot all done and posted to client, and just on the last day, I submitted a batch of photos to a competition that I did well in last year.  So all in all a really good and busy 24 hours.

Here is a Special Card that I made for my God-daughter Ciara, for her Birthday.  It was one of the projects that I made for Fiskars Design Team and I just love the simplicity and clean lines of this card.  There is a step by step tutorial on how to make it on the site.

I have been making a large batch of Communion Cards using Little Musings stamps - hope to get time to photograph them and add them to the blog soon, as the season for Communions is coming up.
